What should Christian discipleship look like within the unfolding planetary emergency of social inequality and ecological injustice? This question will guide our three-part book study of An Ecological Theology of Liberation: Salvation and Political Ecology, which argues that love of God must be expressed through the interrelated love of neighbor and earth. Moreover, central to the argument of the book is that the Christian vocation to bear witness to God’s saving love today demands a steadfast commitment to the urgent and radical transformation of the world’s contemporary politico-ecological order. In making its argument, An Ecological Theology of Liberation uses images and narratives from scripture to analyze critically the ways in which Western colonialism and neocolonialism have given rise and sustained the planetary emergency.
