Make a gift in support of The Jory Prum Scholarship for Sounds That Redefine Normal and the Jory Prum Experimental Sound Studio
As a rare double major in the School of Film/Video and The Herb Alpert School of Music, Jory Prum (BFA '97) exemplified the CalArts mission fostering interdisciplinary work. Establishing himself as an important sound designer in the film and video game industries, he worked for Disney and LucasArts, and started his own studio, winning many awards for his work on video games. Jory was active in designing and defining audio standards for Internet streaming, browsers, and multiplayer games, and was a dedicated teacher.
When his life was tragically cut short in 2016, a scholarship was established called The Jory Prum Scholarship for Sounds That Redefine Normal, a tribute to Jory that allows CalArts to attract the best students interested in music technology and experimental sound practices.
In 2018, an endowment was created to support the Jory Prum Experimental Sound Studio, necessary because recording equipment and technology change frequently. To attract the best students, CalArts must offer them the most advanced facilities.
Your gift will benefit students in The Herb Alpert School of Music via scholarships or access to cutting-edge facilities. Thank you for your support.
