Knowing Awakening Through the Body

with Jim Dalton & The Daltones (Doug & Karen O'Dell)

Eight Mondays, Beginning February 2
10:30 am – 12:00 pm

► HELD IN PERSON & ONLINE Via ZOOM ◀︎

Join resident teacher Jim Dalton with the Daltones (Karen and Doug O’Dell) as we expand our exploration of the Seven Factors of Awakening through mindful movement and meditation.

The Seven Factors are a toolbox where we keep our guidelines and reminders handy. These are not hammers and wrenches we use to control life; rather, the factors can be thought of as intimate attitudes, gentle kid gloves for holding our experience with loving awareness.

Across the course of this class, we will learn to coax new insights by becoming more familiar with mindfulness, curiosity, energy, joy, tranquility, concentration and equanimity, making allies out of the Seven Factors. We'll explore a different one of the factors each week.

The class is inspired by Lama Willa Blythe Baker’s approach to somatic mindfulness: "The path to a mindful life is not paved by taming and subduing, but rather by surrender. Somatic mindfulness is the body’s mindfulness, a relaxed, loving attention, spontaneously experiencing the present moment through the entire body mind."
