ODU Community Care Clinic
Established in 2022 to help address healthcare issues that impact underserved populations in the Hampton Roads area, ODU Community Care is a nurse-led, cross-disciplinary program where faculty, students in all disciplines, and community professionals engage in clinical practice to meeting the needs of vulnerable community members, including homeless individuals, the elderly, veterans, woman, children, and those with mental health concerns. All services are FREE to the patient. Currently operating out of donated space in the People in Need (PiN) Ministry facility located in Virginia Beach and its new Medical Mobile Clinic (MMC), the program uses telehealth, pop-up clinics, and mobile services to provide comprehensive patient care.
Numerus healthcare issues impact rural and underserved populations including poor physical and behavioral health, issues resulting from negative Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) such as lack of access and transportation, health inequity, and health disparities. To further complicate matters, there is a critical shortage of primary care providers and specialist in these areas. The MMC will target the Southampton County region.
Every gift, no matter its size, makes a significant difference and helps us achieve our mission of meeting the needs of vulnerable populations where they are located, providing a safety net of care while partnering with community members to improve overall healthcare. Your continued support enables us to have long term sustainability in these vulnerable communities and expand services to other areas in the Hampton Roads area that need healthcare.
