As a result of legislation passed in 2021, Ohio taxpayers who wish to support Catholic education in Ohio now have the opportunity to receive a tax credit against Ohio income tax liability for cash contributions made to certified organizations that grant scholarships to K-12 students, including students attending Catholic schools.

The Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund has been established by the Diocese of Youngstown as a scholarship granting organization to allow interested donors to reduce their Ohio income tax liability on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $750 per person per year ($1,500 if married filing jointly) by providing donors with a tax credit against their Ohio income tax liability. Donations to the Good Samaritan Scholarship Fund will be utilized to award scholarships to students attending Catholic schools in the Diocese of Youngstown with a priority to support low-income families that seek high quality educational opportunities for their children.

Donations may be designated to support Catholic education throughout the Diocese of Youngstown or to support Catholic education at a specific school.
