“The Rich Heritage of African Americans in the Presbyterian Church”

Saturday, February 22, 2020
1 p.m. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church

African Americans have been an integral part of the Presbyterian Church since 1807 with the founding of First African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia by Rev. John Gloucester. Leaders such as Rev. Samuel Cornish, Dr. Edler Hawkins, Dr. LeRoy Patrick, Elder Thelma Adair as well as Pittsburgh legends including Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Henry Highland Garnet, Dr. Harold Tolliver and many others have made invaluable contributions to the denomination. However, in the age of "Diversity and Inclusion" some of the rich heritage of African Americans have gotten lost. Come to remember the rich heritage of African Americans in the Presbyterian Church and be inspired for the future.
