Texas Knights of Columbus
Keep Christ in Christmas Project
Christmas, the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, is still more than three months away, but preparations for the glorious occasion have already begun. As Knights of Columbus, we are encouraging our councils and assemblies to undertake a program to promote the theme “KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS.”
Santa Claus, Christmas shopping and Christmas gifts are high on our Christmas planning list. What about the true meaning of Christmas? Unfortunately, the beautiful greeting “Merry Christmas” is being replaced by “Happy Holidays” or “Seasons Greetings.” We, as Christians, should not be embarrassed to use the phrase “Merry Christmas.” Furthermore, by encouraging one another to say “Merry Christmas,” we will keep Christ in Christmas.
There are so many ways that we can keep Christ in Christmas. For the state of Texas, we have designed a colorful pin with the statement “It’s OK to say Merry Christmas to me…Keep Christ in Christmas.” Many councils and assemblies in other states have already purchased these pins to distribute as gifts to their parish school children or sell them to their members, parishioners or friends in their communities. The profits went to their state and local charities and the same will happen here in Texas. However, profits are not the primary purpose of this program. The primary purpose of this program is to Keep Christ in Christmas
God bless you and Merry Christmas in advance.
