Cathedral Basilica Memorial Fund The Cathedral Basilica Memorial Fund, established on February 1, 2019, provides for the purchase, maintenance and renovation of sacred vessels, sacred vestments and other appointments for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.

For those remembered, there is great spiritual benefit from this communion in worship and prayer.
A donation to the Cathedral Basilica Memorial Fund can be directed toward specific liturgical items, such as, chalices and patens, ciboria, monstrances, cruets, altar cloths and linens, as well as, chasubles and stoles, and dalmatics and stoles; or be a general donation. Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund The Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund, established on April 20, 2021, provides for two perpetual care purposes:
- The improvement and renovation of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.
- The restoration and preservation of the art inside the Cathedral
The Cathedral Basilica is the ONLY Cathedral in the US built in the Roman‐Corinthian architectural style and it is a National Historic Monument. In addition to the richness of its architecture, it is also the mother Church for the Archdiocese, the home of the shrine of St. Katharine Drexel, and the place of prayer for anyone living or visiting Philadelphia, special visitors include the blessed poor and Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis.
Beautiful art including mosaics, paintings and frescos fill the Cathedral. An 1862 Constantino Brumidi painting of "The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin" can be see inside the dome and this historic Roman painter, who painted the murals and frescoes in Washington DC, also painted two other murals which are in the north and south transept. These murals were painted over in the 70s and need to be restored to their original magnificence.
A donation to the Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund can be directed toward specific projects such as caring for the shrine of St. Katharine, improving lighting, painting the Cathedral and the restoration of artwork, to name just a few. Please call 215‐561‐1313 for a tour and decide for yourself which project is calling to you.
