Rules and Safety Guidelines
Before the Bus Arrives
- Be on time. Arrive at your stop at least 10 minutes early.
- Wait safely. Stand back from the curb and stay in an orderly line.
- Respect your surroundings. Be courteous to neighbors and use safe, public pathways.
- Adults are responsible until pickup. Students are under family supervision until they board.
Boarding the Bus
- Follow the plan. Use only your assigned stop and bus.
- Show your pass. Keep it secure and ready.
- Listen to the driver. They are in charge of safety at all times.
On the Bus
- Stay seated and face forward. Remain seated while the bus is moving.
- Keep hands, feet, and objects inside. Your space is your seat.
- Use a calm voice. No shouting, fighting, or inappropriate language.
- Keep the bus safe and clean. No eating, drinking, or unsafe items (like glass or large equipment).
- Follow all driver directions. This includes seating assignments and behavior expectations.
Getting Off the Bus
- Exit safely and calmly. Wait your turn and watch for traffic.
- Adults resume responsibility. Kinder/TK students must be met by a parent or designated adult, as required.
Important Reminders
- Ride according to the printed pass. Transportation plans must stay consistent for safety.
- Safety is everyone’s job. Each person’s behavior helps protect the whole group.

Student Behavior and Discipline
Video and audio recording takes place on all school buses. All District policies and rules regarding safety, behavior, and discipline remain in effect on the school bus. The principal of each school site is responsible for enforcement. The Superintendent, or designee, may review any or all violations for final recommendation, if necessary. The District does not refund fares for students suspended or expelled from transportation or school for disciplinary reasons.
- First Violation: The rider and parent/guardian will be contacted by the principal, or designee
- Second Violation: The rider may be denied district transportation services for a period of three or more days
- Third Violation: The rider may be denied district transportation services for a period of two or more weeks
- Fourth Violation: The rider may be denied district transportation services for the remainder of the school year
- Threats of harm, acts of violence, or any behavior that is a danger to self or others may be cause for immediate denial of district transportation services
Misuse of Bus Pass
Misuse of bus transportation passes are subject to disciplinary measures.
- Using or attempting to use a stolen, found, or forged bus pass
- Allowing another student to use one's own bus pass
- Using or attempting to use an expired bus pass
Students Without a Bus Pass
- If the student is at the bus stop, student is transported to school and the driver notifies the school office
- The school office contacts the parent/guardian
- Students without a bus pass will not be allowed to ride the bus home from school
