This is one of the elective classes to become a Disaster Relief Chaplain with SBCV, Emotional & Spiritual Care in Disasters.  This class is a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) course and is a 14-hour course.  The dates are August 15-16 and you must attend the entire course for credit. 

Anyone is welcome to receive SBCV's Disaster Relief Chaplain Training, but only members of SBCV churches who are credentialed DR volunteers, may be credentialed as a SBCV DR Chaplain.

To be credentialed as a Disaster Relief Chaplain you must complete the list below:

1. Spiritual Care Provider (2-hour course) Online
2. Southern Baptist Chaplain Course (8-hour course)
3. Assisting Individuals in Crisis Course (13-hour course)
4. Operational Stress First Aid
5. One Elective Course (Choose one)

  • Spiritual and Psychological First Aid (14-hour CISM course)
  • Emotional and Spiritual Care in Disasters (14-hour CISM course)

Letter of recommendation from you pastor
3 letters of reference
Interview with the State Director or Chaplain Coordinator

The cost includes lunch on both days, snacks and a book.
