Rev. Dr. Elmer M. Colyer is Professor of Systematic Theology, Stanley Professor of Wesley Studies, and Director of the United Methodist Studies Program at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He has served the Seminary since 1993. An ordained elder in Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church, Colyer has served many United Methodist Churches in New England, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois over the past forty plus years. Dr. Colyer is the author/editor of five books, including How to Read T. F. Torrance (Intervarsity Press) and The Trinitarian Dimension of John Wesley’s Theology (New Room Books), as well as author of numerous articles and book reviews. In addition to being an accomplished elite master’s athlete in bicycle racing, El is a USA Cycling licensed and certified Level I Power-based Training Coach. Building on his experience as a successful USA Cycling coach, Colyer developed a blended clergy coaching model for use with pastors and congregations funded by a $936,102 Lilly grant initiative, Clergy Coaching in Community and Context.
