Penland Kids Out of the Box
Please note: This is the general registration form. If you are requesting a scholarship, please click here.
We are happy to introduce kits designed by Penland's Kids Camp instructors that your child can do from home this summer! Since creating kits is new for us, we are starting small and aiming for quality over quantity, and doing our best to provide an experience that will enrich your child's summer.
Below you'll find one kit for each of the four age groups: 3 to 6, 6 to 9, 9 to 12, and 13 to 17. The activities in two of the kits can be done at your own pace, and the other two include live meetings with the instructor that will take place at specific dates and times. Please see each listing for details.
Each kit includes all the materials you'll need, with the occasional exception of a common household item such as a cup for water or a paper towel. Kits can either be picked up at Penland or shipped via priority mail. Shipping costs are actual USPS rates and are listed with each camp.
We are very mindful of keeping things safe in light of Covid-19, so we'll be using gloves and masks when assembling the kits, and will ensure that materials sit untouched for a minimum of 3 days before they're distributed. All materials in the kits are certified non-toxic.
For those with slow internet connections, we can send video content on a USB flash drive instead of by email. Please click the radio button below each kit to tell us your preference.
Shipping Dates Each kit has a Kit Available date in the listing to indicate the first possible date for shipping.
Each camp has several payment options, so please read the choices carefully. If you have already paid for camp this year, choose one of the $0 payment options and we'll process your registration accordingly.
If you have any questions or special requests, please contact Lisa at email@example.com.

Enjoy this fun material from the Earth and celebrate the world around you! Children will explore the possibilities of working with clay, discover wonders in their own backyards, and let their imaginations run wild with a week's worth of daily clay and mixed-media projects. Students will gain new skills to develop their own unique styles and creations while making small pots, buttons and beads, ornaments, miniature fantasy lands with creatures and gardens, nests with birds and eggs, going on a texture treasure hunt to make tiles. For this age group, the joy of playing and creating with clay is the primary focus, so clay pieces will not be fired. On the shelf they'll last forever, but they won't be for functional use. Kit contains clay, tools, mixed materials (wool, feathers, craft sticks, etc.) and written instructions (no electronic content). Parental supervision is required.

Use embroidery, beadwork, and stenciling to express yourself on fabric! You can choose your project-create embellishment directly on a piece of your own clothing, make a patch to sew onto most anything, or create a piece of art for the wall. Kit includes written and video instructions on a variety of techniques, and all the materials you'll need.
Please add the student's email address to the Comments box below your payment information. Materials are delivered via Google Classroom. School-based email accounts are typically restricted to their own domains, so we'll need a private email account in order to add them to the classroom.
