Lingering with the Organic: Drawing what we see with Charcoal

When: Saturday, October 12, 2019, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Where: WEI's Amador Hill Farm and Orchard, 15715 River Road, North Branch MN

Instructor:  Emma Schurink

Registration Fee:  $ 50.00

The secret to learning how to draw is learning how to see. Look closely at lines, shapes and textures, and observe how light creates shadow. Draw what your eyes discover using the simple and versatile medium of charcoal.

This workshop will focus on observing and drawing the organic - leaves, sticks, flowers, and fruits. Attendees will discover new aspects of the natural world, which many people tend to experience mostly through peripheral vision. Like Frederick Franck says in The Zen of Seeing, "What I have not drawn, I have never really seen."

Various prompts will help you loosen up, let go and discover the untapped artist within you. This class provides the means for you to look closely and release your creative potential in a perfection-free environment. Come tune into your "inventive, intuitive, imaginative powers that may have been largely untapped by our verbal, technological culture and education system." (Betty Edwards, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain).
