Having reliable access to good healthy food has always been an important part of survival, and in a changing climate, we need to grow food in a way that reduces greenhouse gas emissions while being able to adapt to and even mitigate some aspects of our climate crisis.
This weekend training, featuring Will Allen, former CEO of Growing Power and author of The Good Food Revolution, will bring farmers, growers, and environmentalists into urgently needed dialogue. Participants can learn about affordable methods for sustainable four-season farming and consider what’s at stake with climate change. Workshops include mushroom cultivation, growing microgreens, beekeeping, aquaponic farming, tiny house construction, farm-scale composting, vermiculture, drying herbs, and growing industrial hemp--along with discussions on climate crisis and resilience strategies for small farms. Workshops include a youth program.
Let us grow local together with climate justice, environmental justice, and food security.
Scholarships are available thanks to generous funding from Friends of WEI, supporters, and sponsors.
