GROWING HERBS and HERB FARMING

Instructor: Nancy Graden, Red Clover Herbal Apothecary Farm

Herbalist and farmer Nancy Graden will teach this hands-on class on growing medicinal herbs. She'll track this process from seeding in the greenhouse, transplanting out, tending to, harvesting and storing. Included will be specifics for successful germination, discussion of stratification and scarification, up-potting, when to plant into ground, sun/soil preferences, some companion planting tips, natural pest management along with harvesting, drying for teas, storing and some medicinal benefits. WEI will provide seeds, potting soil, trays and a heated space for the hands-on seeding session of Anise Hyssop, Ashwagandha, Calendula, Lemon Balm, Marshmallow, Skullcap and Tulsi. Participants will have an opportunity to sample some teas, herbal salves and plant extracts.
