Online Therapy:
Ethics, Logistics and Opportunities
Saturday, January 23, 9am-12noon
Many mental health professionals were forced to begin working online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The transition to working online can have many challenges for both clients and clinicians alike. This workshop will cover some of the logistical requirements of providing a confidential and accessible online presence, as well as the personal and professional issues that arise in this work environment. Ethics are a significant part of these considerations and are therefore a major part of the presentation.
Sue Levin, Ph.D., has been a Marriage & Family Therapist since 1990, and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1983. She is a clinician and supervisor, as well as the executive director of the Houston Galveston Institute (HGI), one of the most highly acclaimed post-graduate training programs in our country. HGI is the home of Collaborative Therapy and Dialogical Practices and is a vibrant learning community as well as a clinical provider of individual, couples and family therapy in the greater Houston area. HGI, under Sue's leadership, has been privileged to partner with community agencies to serve underprivileged and multi-problem populations with funding from leading foundations in the greater Houston area. Sue's special interests include disaster and crisis mental health, mind-body skills, and working with unpopular and underserved clientele
