The Dr. James W. Breckenridge Endowment for Anesthesia and Surgery

Sometimes the elements of devotion through service and honor through philanthropy combine to create a legacy.

Dr. Alan and LeeAnn Mowbray and Dr. Fred and Mary Gahl have made lead gifts to the Foundation to establish an endowment that honors their colleague and friend Dr. Jim Breckenridge.

A beloved and outstanding anesthesiologist, Dr. Breckenridge has served as chair of the department that includes approximately 20 physicians. Additionally, “Breck” has been a member of the Rockford Health System Board of Directors since 1998 and served as chair in 2007 and 2008. Additionally, he has been a long-time generous donor to the Foundation.

It is fitting that the Dr. James W. Breckenridge Endowment for Anesthesia and Surgery will provide ongoing support for the surgery department, its physicians and staff, and the patients who receive such outstanding surgical care at Mercyhealth Hospital-Rockton Avenue.

In making their lead gifts, Drs. Mowbray and Gahl encourage others to make similar gifts to the endowed fund named for Dr. Breckenridge to bring the total to $100,000 or more.
