The National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training (NISCVT), known as Beit Atfal Assumoud (BAS), is a humanitarian organization providing services for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and other disadvantaged people living in or close to the camps. It aims to contribute to the development of these communities in Lebanon through services addressing the needs of the families and through projects empowering the potentials and skills of the children, women and parents or guardians.

BAS's Family Happiness Project addresses the needs of children, families and elderly:

There are frequent visits to families, children and the elderly by trained staff. Sponsors will receive periodic updates directly from BAS regarding those they sponsored. For more information, please visit:

Funds for BAS are being managed by United Palestinian Appeal, a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible according to applicable laws.

Allow for a child to enroll in one of the camp's kindergartens. Help provide the opportunity for a child to learn good nutrition, health, and to receive a beginning education.

These children have either lost both parents, have a disabled father who is unable to work, loss of the father where the child is part of a large family, or face other hardships.

The older generation face depression and/or other psycho-social problems due to isolation and boredom from being segregated from society. The cramped living conditions also lead to greater health risks which require great attention. BAS engages them in unique activities to provide support.
