Mah Jongg Mondays led by Gregg Swain
Nov. 18th, Nov. 25th, Dec. 2nd, and Dec. 9th • 9:45 AM to 12:15 PM
Temple Emanu-El NYC, One East 65th Street
Gregg will teach introduction to the game of Mah Jongg, a tile game similar to rummy, played by four people around a table. She will give a series of four lessons. Players will learn to identify tiles which can differ from set to set, how to set up the tiles they are dealt, and to figure out what type of hand they are most likely to win. By the end of the 2nd session, players will be playing the game with teacher supervision provided. Players will also learn beginning game strategies. By the end of the four lessons, players will be able to play on their own.
Class size: 8, based on two tables of four. Cost: $135.00 for Women’s Auxiliary & Nursery School parents; $145.00 for all other Temple Members... plus a one-time fee of $9 for the card issued by the National Mah Jongg League that is required for this style of play.
Please note: Do not sign up unless you know you can commit to the first class, and it is highly recommended that you attend the three others so that you can truly understand the game.
