Sadly, on August 3, 2014, the Camp Sweeney Pavilion caught on fire. The 6,000 square foot building housed the Arts & Crafts classroom, Laundry facility, supply storage, as well as large equipment. The whole complex and everything in it was a complete loss. In addition to the building, thousands of dollars in program and paper goods supplies, a jet ski, four jet ski trailers, a utility trailer, an ice machine, and all of the washers and dryers were lost. A basic rebuild design starts about $600,000 for the building alone. Insurance will help with about 20% of this cost, but we still need $480,000 plus $50,000 for the lost contents. If you would like to help rebuild Camp Sweeney, please make a donation below. As our camp director Dr. Ernie Fernandez said, "Camp Sweeney does some amazing things for many children and I am prayerful that at tough times like these we can come together and come out stronger."
