Thank you for registering for Roman Catholic High School’s Scholarship Preparation Summer Program. This program is designed to help the rising eighth grader better prepare for the Scholarship Entrance Test which is required for admission in the Fall of the 8th grade. The two week program runs from August 5-16, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. The fee is $125 which includes a workbook for the student to keep and one hour each of Algebra and English. Registration for the program is due by
July 22, 2019.
Foundations of Algebra:
Students will be taught basic algebra skills and will have a comprehensive review of general mathematical concepts. Some of the topics that will be covered include fractions, decimals, percentages, and simple equations. Students will be challenged with word problems and will learn test taking strategies.
Students will learn and practice vocabulary words related to the exam, as well as helpful Latin root words to better guess at the meanings of difficult words. Students will practice identifying and utilizing English grammar from parts of speech to sentence structures. Also, students will read interesting stories and analyze their elements to better prepare them for the exam.
