In mid February, nine 4th and 5th graders, the Infinity Stone Connectors from Eagles Elementary in Fargo, were awarded one of 108 invitations across 24,000 teams in over 100 countries to attend the FIRST® LEGO® League World Championship Festival being held April 20-23, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

Being a rookie team, the Infinity Stone Connectors’ goal was to do their best.  Through this process they learned to research, learned about the engineering process, and developed skills relating to the Core Values of FIRST® LEGO® League.

They won regional and state awards for their Innovation Project, which modifies a storage container by installing a permanent dunnage bag to prevent storage containers from falling into the sea.  They designed and built a LEGO® MINDSTORMS Robot, learned to program it to complete “missions” using only LEGO® pieces and created attachments to help them accomplish those missions.

They led the Region and the State in the Robot Game, with the highest point totals in both competitions.  Using their understanding of the FLL Core Values and what it takes to work as a team, this group of 9-11 year olds came together and were awarded the Champions Award at both the Regional and State levels while competing with other teams up to 14 years old.

The 2022 World Championship Festival is in April.
