Thank you for your interest in Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana.
Our Mission Statement: To empower people, in a Spirit of Christ, to respond to the basic needs of the people of Southwest Louisiana. We recognize the sacredness of all humanity. We show responsibility with the time and resources entrusted to us by our benefactors. We network in a spirit of cooperation with other service agencies in Southwest Louisiana. We meet current needs while nurturing our aspiration toward growth in further service areas. We act on behalf of the members of our community whose voices may otherwise go unheard.
Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana provides the following for qualified clients in the five civil parishes in the Diocese of Lake Charles:
• Rental Assistance
• Mortgage Assistance
• Utility Assistance
• Prescription Drug Expense Assistance
• Funeral Expense Assistance
• Other Financial Assistance on a case-by-case basis
• Monthly Food Distribution
We do not discriminate for any reason, including religion. The social teaching of the Catholic Church demands that we acknowledge the human dignity in each person and honor that person’s dignity in all that we do.
Over the past year, the number of clients coming to Catholic Charities has grown overall by 15 percent. Our goal is to offer each one as much hope as possible in that moment of need. While the various grants we receive are very helpful, it is private donations that enable us to serve the full range of needs that we see each day.
That is why we call our generous and consistent donors our Partners in Hope.
Thomas Merton said in his famous prayer: “…Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death, I will not fear, for you are ever with me and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.” The hope he expresses here is the hope we want to pass on through our work to those who come to our doors. We want to be part of that place of safety for each person in crisis. Won’t you please join our efforts?
Yes, I would like to become Partners in Hope with Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana.
