September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
86% of Friends of Karen children currently are facing cancer. We all know that cancer does not discriminate based on race, financial status, or age. There isn’t always an answer to why some children get cancer. What we do know is that every child and family needs to be supported, emotionally, financially, or having an advocate at this traumatic time. Friends of Karen is there to ensure that no family has to make their difficult journey alone. Your support ensures that we can do this.
Quinn's brain tumor diagnosis came at just three months old, and the prognosis was grim. He needed emergency surgery and had difficulty tolerating treatment. On top of these struggles, the COVID-19 pandemic emerged and made things much more complicated. As his family prepared for the worst, Quinn's mother Caravelle was introduced to Friends of Karen. Today Quinn has celebrated his 1st birthday, and Caravelle can look back at the difference Friends of Karen has made. "Without Friends of Karen, I might have ended up in a homeless shelter...Friends of Karen gave me hope when I felt hopeless."
Childhood cancer is a family illness. Join us in giving our families help and hope they so deserve in September and all year long.
